Dublin

Ireland … the one place I had high expectations from. I have heard the stories of horses going nuts given the nature … well, must have not been Dublin as this is totally not a place for a horse, and I will tell you why …

Everything seemed to go smoothly. Flight was easy and fast, and given the fact this was my second time, I was allowed to have my own seat and didn’t have to sit on the lap of my fab lady like a little sissy!! We took taxi with super nice driver who was sooo friendly that he simply wouldn’t shut his horse mouth up. We  didn’t really mind as he was showing us places, took us through the city and recommended what to see.

Staying close by the Guinness brewery with the sweet smell of deliciousness made me super curious if the whole city smell like that, just like Zaanse Schans smells of chocolate! Although it was late,  I couldn’t resist and begged my lady to go for a walk. It was chilly and windy but hey, IRELAND! I wish I did not push for the walk that night!

Walking by the river Liffey, I asked to make a beauty shot of me overlooking the water reflecting the gorgeous buildings behind … that was not well thought through…

The moment I stood up on the causeway above the river, the wind hit in and I was falling and falling till i landed unconscious just on the edge of mud and the actual water! I cannot even imagine what kind of thoughts and fear my owner had to face!

As she is exceptional lady with strong will and courage, she did climb down and walked through the narrow path filled with mud, stepping on small slippery stones not to end up in the water herself! Bare in mind, we were told earlier by the driver, that the river is unusually low and normally there’s no dry area whatsoever, how lucky!!

She made it, she found me, she slapped my nose and gave me mouth to mouth to bring me back to life! Then she took my heavy body and hanged me around her back and climbed to the safe place. Even for me, there were moments I was sure we won’t make it! Imagine what she must have gone through!

There is many places to see in Dublin, mainly castles, parks and or churches, however, it was very tiring to get anywhere trying to escape the madness of the city. I couldn’t really get my tale into being anything else but flappy, as I was just shocked by the previous experience, scared of all the cars coming from the WRONG direction and the amount of people.

Luckily, my lady has the right sense for escaping busy places bringing me to the Dublin’s beauty, where peace and history fly around your nose just to grab and enjoy it!

Saint Patrick’s park with it’s amazing church is nice place just to sit down and relax. I certainly needed that given I was rolling in the mud earlier that day!

What I did not enjoy was something I haven’t really seen yet thus I had to ask. “Who are all those people sitting around, dirty and unhappy asking for money, or sleeping in the park outside?” … My owner got very sad look, sat me down and told me how difficult it can be for human being if he is not blessed enough to have friends and family to help, or not strong enough will to do it on his own. They end up on the streets. Hungry, cold and dirty. It did not make me happy, and all I wanted to do is go home into my bubbly stable and look for a way how to save the people from this hard world they live in.

All in all, Dublin wasn’t my most pleasant experience, but don’t get me wrong. I haven’t had a chance to see everything that the city offers. I didn’t get to taste Guinness as I was not allowed to try even a bit of alcoholic drink being unconscious after the fall. But I will be back soon and I WILL look for places that will make my tail flip as high as the Irish jumps in their dances.
